La Trinidad records chilling 7.9 degrees Celsius temperature

La Trinidad town in Benguet province recorded the coldest temperature recorded  for this  year on Sunday with chilling  7.9 degrees Celsius.

The 7.9 degrees Celsius was recorded at 6:30 a.m. on Sunday by the Benguet State University Agricultural Meteorological (BSU Agromet) Research Station facility located at the BSU Compound in La Trinidad, according to Frank Raga.  Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services (PAGASA) Administration Weather Specialist.

Raga said  the  low temperature was caused by the northeast monsoon or the amihan, which is  the  cool and dry northeast wind coming from Siberia and China and blows down to Southeast Asia affecting the Philippines.

On Friday, the BSU Agromet recorded 9 degrees Celsius.

Also on  Sunday, the PAGASA recorded  9 degree Celsius Baguio City, its coldest day so far for the year.

The cold weather may continue  as the country is still affected by  the amihan season.
